Samsung’s next big Galaxy update, One UI 8.5, continues to leak with a number of visual changes, with one of the latest finds being a “3D” effect for icons.
Multiple sources have spotted a new effect for homescreen icons in the latest early One UI 8.5 build, with icons getting a sort of “3D” look. The change, shown in live images by Max Jambor, is subtle but makes the icons sort of look like they’re popping out of the display. But realistically, these seem to be little more than a drop shadow effect.

Other changes spotted in this latest build are a little more prominent.
SamMobile spotted several app redesigns, with bolder looks for apps like Digital Wellbeing, “partial screen” support for screen recording, a neat gradient in the Gallery app, and more vibes from Apple’s Liquid Glass with floating UI elements.

The folks over at SammyGuru also spotted new family sharing features while the “Private display” feature assumed to launch with Galaxy S26 is also showing up.
One UI 8.5 is expected to launch on the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
