Samsung has been stubborn when it comes to the updated wireless charging standard that is Qi2, with the new standard adding MagSafe-style magnetic charging outside of the iPhone ecosystem. Google became the first major brand to embrace Qi2 with the Pixel 10 series, and while Samsung is rumored to finally be getting on board next year, the company has just release two new Qi2 wireless chargers that just remind Galaxy owners what they’re missing out on.
Available now through Samsung’s online store, a new “Single Wireless Charging” is a Qi2 puck that costs $34.99, while the “Car Wireless Charger” is a magnetic wireless charger that’s meant to be mounted in your car and costs $84.99.
The two new accessories both fully support the Qi2 MPP charging standard, Samsung says, though with the huge asterisk that Galaxy phones do not support this without a magnetic case.
A footnote seen in multiple places on each listing says:
Requires Qi-compatible device, Qi 2.0-certified magnetic case required for phone, and 25W power adapter (sold separately). Fast Wireless Charging requires Fast Charging compatible device; depends on battery level and other factors.
Beyond requiring Galaxy owners to buy a case for their phone just to use the charger, Samsung also requires that buyers purchase a 25W power adapter separately. Samsung’s official Qi2 case for Galaxy S25 costs $29.99, while the one for Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a lot more expensive at $54.99, and that one doesn’t even cover the front of the foldable.
These aren’t the first Qi2 chargers Samsung has released, but they did just pop up for sale recently. Prior to this, Samsung released a 3-in-1 charger for a phone, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Buds.
Would you pick up either of these?
