Florida Attorney General (AG) James Uthmeier has escalated his office’s investigation into Roblox Corporation’s child safety issues by issuing criminal subpoenas to the company. In a video shared on X, Uthmeier accused Roblox of profiting from children while failing to protect them, stating, “They enabled our kids to be abused.”
The subpoenas aim to gather information on suspected criminal activity within the platform, including evidence related to both predators and victims. This move follows previous criticisms of Roblox’s child safety measures, including a report from Hindenburg Research in October 2024. In response, Roblox introduced new safety features such as limiting under-13 users from accessing unrated experiences, social hangouts, and free-form user creation. Furthermore, the company also introduced age-checks and parental controls in 2025.
However, despite these efforts, scrutiny continues, with lawsuits in Louisiana and San Francisco alleging that Roblox inadequately protects children from online predators. Additionally, Iraq recently banned the platform due to concerns that it enables direct user communication, exposing children and adolescents to potential exploitation or cyber-extortion.
In his statement, Uthmeier emphasized that authorities will hold companies accountable if they act carelessly and expose children to harm. He asserted, “Companies like Roblox have become breeding grounds for predators to get to and have access to our kids.” Uthmeier concluded, “Companies that act carelessly and expose them (children) to harm will be held accountable”.

Specifically, the state has demanded all business records connected to safety and moderation operations, including internal emails, memos, and policy documents detailing how Roblox identifies and handles reports of grooming, harassment, or other criminal behaviour. It also calls for logs of communications with law enforcement, records of complaints from users or parents, and reports of disciplinary actions taken against accounts suspected of endangering minors.
Furthermore, the Attorney General’s office has asked for documentation of Roblox’s moderation algorithms, escalation processes for abuse…
