The student protests at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar continue even after a day of severe police violence against civilians and an internet shutdown. Indian authorities have begun taking down or geo-restricting content through notices that may have been issued under Section 79(3)(b) and Section 69A of the IT Act.

- Cockroach Janta Party’s official Instagram page is not accessible. This is the URL of the page. It doesn’t display any notice at the moment.
- Journalist at DW News, Sadhika Tiwari’s reel posted on 20 July 2026 was geo-blocked in India. The reel features a young student crying after police allegedly beat her at the CJP protest.
- Maktoob Media’s two-minute reel on its Hindi channel was blocked in India. In that video, the reporter speaks about how people ahve become stopped falling victim to the media propaganda to discredit student protestors.
- Content creator News With Ritik’s at least two posts on Instagram related to CJP protests were made unavailable in India.
- His post with his voice-over and visuals from the protest site alleges that RSS and BJP members assaulted male and female individuals. This reel has over 61 likes and 5 comments on Facebook and zero on Instagram.
- Another reel of his, reacting to what he described as a poorly generated deepfake video of a student kicking a police vehicle, was also removed. It had over 5 likes and zero comments on Instagram.
- Instagram is also restricting stories, not just posts and reels, claimed @Royalsinghz3 while posting on X, saying that Meta is “even taking down stories of small accounts who are speaking against CJP”. The alleged Meta notice was shared on X
- Content creator Akshay Chandra Madhav posted on Instagram, sharing screenshots showing that Instagram had removed at least two of his posts for violating its Community Guidelines, while another post was withheld in India, citing the Information Technology Rules. He said he could no longer access all the posts he had shared as Stories and urged archivists to preserve copies elsewhere to ensure there is a record. He also alleged that Meta was coordinating with the government to erase evidence.
- @AnilSir_Uncut posted a cropped version of a Meta screenshot saying “Your account can’t be shown to non-followers.” We couldn’t validate this.
- @cookykoyalogy posted the Meta notices indicating the blocking of her account. “The account, or activity on it, may deceive others to take their money, property or personal information,” stated Meta’s notice, citing the community guidelines.
