According to new findings, Qualcomm is preparing its Snapdragon X Elite chips for future Android PCs.
Google and Qualcomm have already confirmed that Android-powered PCs will be coming next year, with a new experience that Qualcomm’s CEO called “incredible.” While we’ve yet to see those machines in any real capacity, we now have an idea of what kind of horsepower they’ll have.
@Jukanlosreve, an analyst, posted screenshots on Twitter/X showing Snapdragon X chipsets in “Android 16’s private code list,” with Qualcomm having further uploaded needed code to the repository for both the Snapdragon X Elite and the lower-end Snapdragon X chips. Seeing this, it strongly implies that Qualcomm is opening the door to PC makers using these chipsets for Android PCs.
The Snapdragon X Elite chip first made a splash in 2024 and has proved itself as a powerful and capable way to run a Windows machine on ARM, something that wasn’t feasible for years prior. App support for native ARM applications on Windows has continued to improve, as has Qualcomm’s range of Snapdragon X chips for more affordable machines. So, with that in mind, having Android PCs based on Snapdragon X chips is a pretty enticing thought.
Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon X2 Elite shows promise for 2026 Windows PCs with a major performance boost, but it’s unclear if that chip will be used in any of the upcoming Android-powered machines.
