Samsung’s “budget” Galaxy Z Flip FE remains pointless, as a new deal offers a brand-new Galaxy Z Flip 6 for just $550.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 may be a little over a year old at this point, but it’s still the second-best flip phone in Samsung’s lineup. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 delivers bigger displays, improved battery life, and more, but the last-gen model has a Snapdragon chipset and almost all of the same features.

That’s why a $550 Galaxy Z Flip 6 is so compelling. Woot has that offer at the moment, with a brand new “Silver Shadow” Galaxy Z Flip 6 being available for $549.99. That’s not for the base model either, it’s for the 512GB option, making this a device that’s 55% off of its retail pricing.

Update 12/9: With the holidays quickly approaching, Woot has cut another $50 off of this deal we previously highlighted. That’s still for a 512GB model in “Silver Shadow,” and remains just an absolute steal at $495.27 – look, we didn’t make the price.

The rest of the original article follows, edited with additional context around the Flip 7 FE’s apparent disappearance from Samsung’s website.

It’s also a reminder that Samsung’s “budget” focused Galaxy Z Flip FE is completely pointless.

Based on the same hardware, the Flip FE has a much worse processor and far less storage (starting at 128GB), while also starting at $899. It’s already tough to recommend that device when $200 buys a Flip 7 with a far better experience and twice the storage, but when you can buy the exact same hardware, but with better performance, for hundreds less?

Yeah, you should do that.

It seems Samsung may have seen the error of its ways, too. The Flip 7 FE has been out of stock on Samsung.com for weeks now, with no sign of returning. Retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon are presumably stuck with stock of the device, so while you can find discounts on that device, it still doesn’t beat a Flip 6 sale.
