Zomato’s founder Deepinder Goyal is stepping down as Group CEO at Eternal, starting February 1, 2026. Albinder Dhindsa, who currently leads Blinkit, will take the reins as Eternal’s new Group CEO.
Goyal announced his resignation in a letter to shareholders today (January 21, 2026). He said his decision to step down was influenced by his desire to explore a set of new ideas that do not fit the risk profile of a listed company like Eternal, and are outside the company’s strategic scope.
“While I believe I personally have the bandwidth to continue what I am doing at Eternal, and also explore new ideas outside of it, the expectations, legal and otherwise, of a public company CEO in India demand singular focus,” said Goyal.
However, he noted that he will remain on the company’s board as vice chairman, subject to approval from shareholders.
Zomato Founder’s New Ventures
Over the past two years or so, Goyal has started two new ventures — LAT Aerospace and Continue Research. LAT Aerospace, launched in January 2025, is an aviation startup building hybrid-electric Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft, which will be made to operate compact air-stops rather than conventional airports.
As per official website data, the company plans to use electric motors, a battery, and a turbogenerator to fuel the aircraft in an effort to create energy-efficient engines.
“Our first demonstrators are already under development, with flight testing underway. From there, we will scale towards industrial partnerships and production to bring the first generation of LAT aircraft into service. But this is just the beginning,” the website reads.
Meanwhile, Continue Research is a health-focused venture, which incorporated nearly two years ago. In a post on X in October 2025, Goyal said Continue Research is neither a startup nor a company, but a seed fund with a research team focused on exploring longevity. Goyal has invested $25 million in this fund so far out of his own pocket.
Goyal is also contemplating launching a wearable device company called Temple. The devices launched under this brand will track cerebral blood flow.
What Changes for Eternal?
Following Goyal’s resignation, Dhindsa will take over the operational control of Eternal. As Group CEO, he will be responsible for day-to-day execution, operating priorities, and business decisions.
“Blinkit’s journey from acquisition to breakeven happened under his leadership. He built the team, the culture, the supply chain, the operating rhythm. He has the DNA of a battle-hardened founder and his ability to execute far exceeds mine. He is more than capable of leading Eternal as Group CEO,” Goyal wrote in his letter to shareholders.
Goyal further stated that as part of this transition, all of his unvested ESOPs will return to the company’s ESOP pool. According to him, this will create long-term incentives for future leaders without shareholder…
