YouTube launched the Trending page in 2015, and is now planning to retire it as people’s viewing and discovery habits have changed.

YouTube notes how it was “a lot simpler to capture [what’s trending] with a singular list of viral videos that everyone was talking about” 10 years ago. It’s at the top of the “Explore” section on the web side panel, and navigation drawer on Android and iOS.

Today, trends consist of many videos created by many fandoms, and there are more micro-trends enjoyed by diverse communities…
