Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested social media influencer and dermatologist Dr Neelam Singh, who is known online as “The Skin Doctor”, over posts linked to the family of late businessman Sunjay Kapur. Hours later, a Delhi court granted him bail, according to a Bar and Bench report.

The Delhi Police produced Singh before Judicial Magistrate Snehil Sharma at Patiala House Court late Wednesday night. The Delhi Police had sought two days’ custody, but the court granted bail after the hearing.

Why Police Took Action: The case was registered after a complaint was filed at Delhi’s Vasant Kunj police station on behalf of Kapur’s family. Police accused Singh of posting objectionable content on social media, including remarks questioning the circumstances of Sunjay Kapur’s death and issues related to his will and family estate. Some of the posts were later deleted.

Priya Kapur, Kapur’s widow, has said the claims made in the posts were “false and fabricated.”

Who Is ‘The Skin Doctor’: Singh is a dermatologist who runs social media accounts under the name “The Skin Doctor”. While he initially gained attention for skincare-related content, he later built a large audience through commentary on political and social issues. His X account has over 9 lakh followers, while his Instagram and YouTube accounts have more than 1 lakh followers each.

Screenshots circulating online show a now-deleted post in which Singh allegedly questioned the circumstances around Kapur’s death and raised doubts about the timing and authenticity of his will. The authenticity of the screenshots and the deleted posts has not been independently verified.

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani later said Singh got bail around five hours after his arrest and called the case “baseless and frivolous.”

Brief Background Of The Family Dispute: Sunjay Kapur, chairman of auto components company Sona Comstar and actress Karishma Kapoor’s ex-husband, died in London on June 12, 2025, while playing polo. A coroner’s report later said he died of natural causes linked to heart disease.

After his death, members of the Kapur family entered into a legal dispute over inheritance and the functioning of family trusts. The matter is currently before the Supreme Court, which recently appointed former Chief Justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud as mediator in the dispute between Kapur’s mother Rani Kapur and his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur.
