Meta complied with blocking orders: The screenshots posted by Jagan state that Meta complied with the blocking orders as per the orders from “The Government of India / Law Enforcement,” Tagging Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, MeitY, Meta and Amit Shah and PM Modi. He also said:
- “We will challenge these unfair actions through every legal and constitutional avenue. No intimidation, censorship, or misuse of institutions can silence the voice of the people.”
- “This is not just an attack on YSRCP; it is an attack on democratic values and freedom of expression. … Silencing an opposition party’s official handles, thereby opposition voices for speaking the truth sets a dangerous precedent and is most undemocratic.”
- “The @ncbn government continues to suppress the voices of the people and the opposition.”
- “We demand the immediate restoration of the official page in the interest of democracy and to uphold the constitutional spirit.”
MediaNama couldn’t locate the URLs of these posts when we accessed the “YSR Congress Party – YSRCP” FB page using a VPN. The page is accessible through a VPN, but these particular posts are missing from its feed. These posts may have been deleted by YSRCP or taken down by Meta, possibly in compliance with AP Police orders.
