In the past day or so, the Pixel Satellite SOS settings page has accidentally appeared on older Google devices. This is a bug, with no new functionality for the Pixel 7 or 8.
On our Pixel 7 Pro, going to Settings > Safety & emergency reveals “Pixel Satellite SOS” alongside Emergency SOS and Car Crash Detection. Tapping reveals the same introductory page as on the Pixel 9 and newer that explains “How it works,” and lets you set “Sharing preferences” across Emergency contacts and Your Google Account. It also notes how “Satellite SOS is included at no charge for 2 years.”
The first sign that something is amiss is the lack of the “Try a demo” button, while older phones don’t have the necessary hardware (Samsung’s Exynos 5300 vs. 5400 modem).
Pixel 7 Pro vs. Pixel 9

Google tells us that this issue will be fixed by the end of today, and that the Pixel Satellite SOS page will automatically disappear from unsupported phones.
Pixel Satellite SOS is only available for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Connectivity is available in 33 countries.
