The Delhi High Court (HC) has directed telecom service providers, messaging platform WhatsApp, and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to block accounts and mobile numbers linked to a widespread impersonation scam targeting Reliance Retail’s beauty platform, Tira. In an interim order dated July 7, the court said the scam involved large-scale fraud and posed a serious threat to consumer rights and intellectual property rights.
