According to a new report, Samsung has plans to release its Galaxy Z “TriFold” device more broadly than initially thought, with the device set to launch outside of China and South Korea and possibly including regions such as the US.
SamMobile, citing its own sources, reports that the Galaxy Z “TriFold” will launch outside of China and South Korea, mentioning the UAE as one region that will see the device available. It’s also mentioned that the US market may be included, but it’s not confirmed at this point.
Rumors on this matter have gone back and forth for a while now, with a report in September mentioning that Samsung was still “considering” a wider launch to the global market. Given this new information, it seems that the company has indeed settled on at least a slightly wider launch.
The Galaxy Z “TriFold” is a new foldable form factor for Samsung that has three display sections and two hinges, opening to a wider 10-inch display. Leaked software animations suggest that the device will open from the inside with an additional outer display as opposed to Huawei’s device which uses its outer display as a part of the larger folding display.
Pricing and other details of the “TriFold” have yet to surface, but rumor has it that Samsung might unveil it as soon as this month.
