The Waymo app for hailing autonomous vehicles in Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, and more cities in the future is getting a bit simpler today.

Today’s Android and iOS update to the Waymo app streamlines the bottom bar. It’s now back to four tabs, with Waymo introducing “My car” in September. Feedback, which automatically screenshotted your last page, has been moved to Support at the top.

Old vs. new

Meanwhile, we’re seeing a new Liquid Glass bottom bar as of version 128 of Waymo for iOS today. This replaces the custom navigation component that was previously shared across iOS and Android. It’s still live on the latter platform with a translucent gradient. Waymo’s iPhone app also gets the Liquid Glass keyboard when entering locations.

Waymo is its own company, so they’ve never really aligned with Material Design. On the Google front, Chrome remains the only first-party app on iOS with Liquid Glass. (As such, you’ll still find the old iOS keyboard across all other Google apps.)

In other developments, Waymo announced at the start of this month that it’s next coming to Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, and St. Louis.
