Bharti Airtel reported a 29.2% rise in mobile data consumption on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, reaching 29.8 GB per customer per month in the Q3FY26 quarter that ended in December 2025. The company said the growth was driven by an increase in smartphone penetration and continued usage expansion across its mobile network.

Alongside the rise in data consumption, the company also reported an increase of 20.8 million smartphone data customers on a YoY basis. And during the Q3FY26 quarter, the company added 5.2 million smartphone users on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis. Notably, Airtel said that smartphone users now account for 79% of Airtel’s total mobile customer base.

Key operational metrics:

Total customer base: Airtel’s total Indian customer base stood at 466 million as of the end of Q3FY26. This marks a 12.6% YoY increase compared to Q3FY25, when the base stood at 414 million. The overall customer base stood at 645 million across 15 countries. 

Postpaid customers: Postpaid customers on Airtel’s network stood at 28.1 million, a 11.1% increase from 25.3 million in the same quarter last year. In Q3FY26, the company added 620,000 postpaid customers.

Airtel Homes user base: The total customer base for the Homes business stood at 13.1 million, marking a 32.6% increase YoY. This business segment recorded its highest-ever quarterly net customer additions of 1.159 million in Q3FY26.

Digital TV: The Digital TV customer base for the quarter stood at 15.4 million, a 2.5% decline compared to the same quarter last year, when the base stood at 15.8 million. 

Mobile average revenue per user (ARPU): Mobile ARPU for the quarter stood at Rs 259, compared to Rs 245 in the same quarter last year. 

Key financial metrics:

Total revenue: Airtel’s consolidated revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 53,982 crore, growing 19.6% YoY and 3.5% QoQ. Revenue from India-specific operations stood at Rs 39,226 crore, up 13.2% YoY and 1.4% QoQ.

Net income: Consolidated net income (before exceptional items) stood at Rs 6,920 crore for the quarter, compared to Rs 5,514 crore in Q3FY25.

EBITDA: Consolidated EBITDA stood at Rs 31,144 crore, a 25.2% YoY increase, with an EBITDA margin of 57.7%. Meanwhile, India-specific EBITDA stood at Rs 23,676 crore, with a margin of 60.4%.

Mobile service revenue: India-specific mobile revenue stood at Rs 28,651.6 crore during the quarter, increasing by 9.1% YoY, driven by ARPU improvement and growth in smartphone data customers.

Airtel Homes revenue: The Airtel Homes segment generated Rs 2,000.8 crore in revenue in Q3FY26, marking a 32.6% YoY increase, supported by market expansion and deeper coverage.

Airtel Business revenue: Airtel Business reported revenue of Rs 5,353.1 crore during the quarter, growing 1.5% sequentially, driven by steady growth across its digital services portfolio, including Airtel Cloud, Cybersecurity, Financial services, and internet of things (IoT).
