The Delhi High Court objected to journalist Rana Ayyub’s tweets posted between 2013 and 2017 on Hindu deities and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The court described the tweets as “highly derogatory, inflammatory and communal,” and asked the Delhi Police and X Corp. to take necessary action, according to the Bar & Bench, which reported the court hearing first.

“The action is necessary in view of the highly derogatory, inflammatory and communal tweets posted by Rana Ayyub…The matter requires urgent consideration. The official who represents Delhi Police is also directed to transmit necessary directions to X Corp.” Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav ordered.

Petitioner Advocate Amita Sachdeva referred to six of Ayyub’s tweets from 2013 to 2017. Considering these posts, the Delhi High Court issued notices to Ayyub, X Corp., and the Delhi Police, and stated that it will hear the case again on April 10, 2026.

What are the concerned posts?

On September 17, 2025, Ayyub shared a screenshot of X’s email correspondence with her that detailed the list of URLs which the Delhi police had flagged to X saying that the following posts “violated Indian law. All posts on X remain accessible as of now.
